Going right back to the well tonight. The 7’0 footer has been dominant in Big East tournament play, scoring 17 against Creighton last night and 23 points against Depaul the night before. He’s been heavily involved all season and even more so since the Musketeers lost Zach Freemantle to injury. Like yesterday, major rebounding advantage tonight. Xavier’s 14th in rebound rate while Marquette’s down at 308th. Nunge’s averaging 7.8 rebounds per game, leading Xavier in Freemantle’s absence. Despite the inability to sink outside shots, UConn’s Sanogo still had no issue going over his point total despite getting double teamed. Marquette won’t have that same luxury of doubling the post. Xavier ranks 3rd in in the nation shooting 40% from long range. Nunge himself shoots 42.9% from deep. Their two semi-final games we’re quite different too. UConn vs Marquette was a dog fight last night. An incredibly physical and draining game. Which had something to do with both teams failing to score a point the final 2:35. Xavier vs Creighton on the other hand was not. The musketeers cruised to a 22-point victory in a high-flying affair. That’s going to matter down low as these teams play their 3rd game in as many days. Back the big fella!
