Defensively they have been arguably the worst in the NFL, allowing 9.9 yards per pass attempt, the most in the NFL, and against the run they aren't much better, allowing the third most yards and yards per carry. All this bodes well for the 49ers who have the second-most passing yards and have proven to be able to generate lethal rushing attacks under Shanahan.
