Major League Players Club MLB 1-5 Units (7/24/24)

MLB

6 Picks.

1:10PM: Twins ML +120 (5 Units).

PHI SP Aaron Nola has a 5.13 ERA over his last 7 starts and has allowed 3 runs or more in 5 of them. The Twins were shutout yesterday by a Zach Wheeler gem but scored 7 runs in each of their 2 previous games. They also rank 4th in OPS in the Month of July. MIN is going bullpen day with a scheduled day off tomorrow and it's a red hot one. Take a look at these numbers over the last 30 days: Griffin Jax 2.45 ERA in 11 Games, Jorge Alcala 1.5 ERA in 13 games, Cole Sands 0.0 ERA in 10 games, Jhoan Duran 2.89 ERA in 11 games (all 3 ER last night in a non-save situation), and Caleb Thielbar 1.29 ERA in 8 games. They just got Brock Stewart and his .68 ERA back as well. No reliever has pitched more than once the last couple days. The Phillies offense has scored 3 or less in 4 of their last 6 games and they'll be facing someone new every time they come to the plate. Catcher J.T. Realmuto is also out of the lineup today after catching last night.

3:10PM EST: Rockies ML +135 (3 Units).

BOS SP Nick Pivetta has pitched well in the Month of July thus far. He has yet to allow a Homerun after letting up 13 in his first 12. His .43 GO/AO ratio in July is the lowest it's been in any month. He's been better on the road every year as a member of the Red Sox. His fly ball pitching type doesn't play well at Fenway. It won't play great in the thin Denver Air on a warm day either. He's made 2 career starts at Coors and has a 17.18 ERA. Giving up 14 runs over 7.1IP. The Rockies bats went cold last night but they're 7th in OPS in the Month of July. Ryan McMahon also returns to the lineup after dealing with a jammed finger. COL SP Cal Quantrill has yet to allow more than 3ER in any start at Coors Field.

3:37PM EST: A's ML +135 (3 Units).

HOU SP Hunter Brown has a 4.99 ERA on the Road. His most recent start came on the road in Seattle, and it was a good one, but the Mariners have the lowest team BA in the Month of July. Oakland meanwhile leads the league in every major offensive statistical category this Month. They've scored 38 runs in 5 games since the break and haven't scored less than 4 in any of them. OAK SP JP Sears has a 1.65 ERA across 3 July Starts. He's faced Houston twice this year, limiting them to just 1ER over 11IP. Houston's 20th in OPS vs LHP and have scored just 13 runs in 5 games since the Break. They've lost 3 straight and are on the verge of being swept.

6:40PM EST: DET/CLE Under 7 (2 Units). DET SP Jack Flaherty hasn't allowed more than 3ER in 11 of his last 12 starts. He has a 2.04 ERA over his last 7 starts, allowing 1ER or less in 5 of them. He's faced Cleveland twice this season, posting a combined stat line of 12IP, 8 Hits, 3 ER, 3 Walks. Even last year in his worst full season as a starter he went into Cleveland and held them to 1 ER across 7 innings. CLE SP Tanner Bibee has pitched very well over his last 6 starts. He had 1 hiccup against SF but otherwise stellar. He's allowed 3ER or less in 14 of his 20 starts and 4ER or less in 18. He keeps the game in check and Cleveland's bullpen's the best at throwing up zeros. 7:07PM EST: Blue Jays First 5 Innings ML -110 (2 Units).

TB SP Zach Eflin has a 5.52 ERA on the road this season. He's allowed 4 runs or more in 4 straight road starts and 5 of his last 6. He allowed 2 across 4IP @ Miami in the one outlier. He's faced Toronto twice this season, allowing 6 and 4 earned runs. TOR SP Yariel Rodriguez came off the IL towards the end of June and got healthy for July. He has a 1.62 ERA in 3 July starts (16.2 IP) with 19 strikeouts. He was a big time FA signing from Japan and is limited to roughly 80 pitches. He pitched 6.2 and 6 innings in his first 2 July starts but just 4 in his latest before the All-Star Break. Tampa has the much stronger bullpen which is why we're just playing the First 5 innings. 8:10PM EST: AZ/KC Under 9 (2 Units). AZ SP Ryne Nelson has a 3.29 ERA over his last 7 appearances. He's gone 5 innings plus in all but one of those starts. He gave up 6ER at Home over 3.2 IP to Minnesota. Excluding that game, he's allowed 9ER combined over his last 6. He's struggled at Home all year as is, posting a 6.21 ERA at Chase Field compared to his 3.58 ERA on the road. He's allowed 1ER exactly in each of his last 3 road games and 2ER over 7IP in the road start prior. He started the 2nd half of the season hot recording a career high 9 strikeouts @ Wrigley last Friday. KC SP Michael Wacha has allowed 2ER or less in 9 of his last 10 starts and has a 2.3 ERA over that span. He also has a 2.96 ERA at Home this season, allowing 2ER or less in all but one. Both bullpens are also in great shape. Only 1 reliever between the 2 teams has thrown more than 22 pitches in the last 3 days.
