4 Picks.
6:40PM: DET/CLE Under 8.5 (3 Units).
Bullpens are going to see a lot of action in this game. DET will open with Tyler Holton and try for a couple innings before likely passing off to Kenta Maeda. Detroit has 5 relievers with ERA's south of 3.52 over the last 30 days and all of them are freshly rested. CLE's 28th in OPS in July and have scored just 3 runs over their last 3 games combined. Xzavion Curry starts for CLE. His last appearance was a scoreless relief outing but he's made starts before. He won't go through the lineup more than twice before passing it off to top bullpen in baseball that has all their high leverage arms fresh.
7:20PM: Reds ML +165 (3 Units).
CIN SP Nick Martinez has a 3.18 ERA over his last 15 appearances and a 2.57 ERA on the Road. Atlanta's 22nd in OPS in July and scored just 1 run last night. Martinez won't pitch deep unless he's pitching well, and the Reds bullpen is in phenomenal shape. Martinez included they have 6 relievers with ERA's below 3.5 over the last 30 days. 4 of them 2.61 or better. Every single one of them are available tonight. Everyone but Diaz would be available again tomorrow if they pitched today and if he rolls out, we're in great shape. That matters because Cinci has a day off on Friday and they're well in the hunt for a wildcard spot just 4 games back. No holding back if this game’s competitive.
Atlanta will send out Chris Sale, but this Reds offense just continues to produce. They're 6th in OPS in July and average over 5.2 runs per game. Sale's last start came on July 14th and when you're humming along like he was the All-Star Break isn't a welcome one. Could be vulnerable early from a bit of rust. He's failed to complete 6 innings in back-to-back starts and 3 of his last 5.
8:05PM: CWS/TEX Under 7.5 (2 Units).
CWS SP Garrett Crochet has a 2.15 ERA over his last 7 starts and a 2.2 ERA over his last 15. He's been lights out and this Rangers offense ranks 19th in OPS vs LHP this season. TEX SP Jon Gray has battled consistency issues since his return from the IL. He's allowed 1ER or less in 8 of his 11 Home appearances this season. The worst offense in baseball that's scored just 6 total runs in 4 games combined since the All-Star Break is the perfect spot for Gray.
8:40PM: BOS/COL Over 11 (3 Units).
These two combined for 17 runs across 12 innings last night. Those extra innings have left these bullpens in a rough spot. The Red Sox bullpen is league average at full strength but they're without Closer Kenley Jansen for this series. 3 relievers also have 40+ pitches thrown over the last 4 days following a taxing series vs LA. Colorado's bullpen ranks dead last and 2 of their most reliable arms have 42 and 44 pitches thrown past 3 days.
Neither SP is known for their length eithers. Boston's Cooper Criswell was just recalled from being sent down to AAA on July 12th. It was his 13th MLB appearance and 12th start this year and the first time he pitched past the 5th inning. He allowed 5 runs over 6IP at Home. He's never pitched at Coors and projects terribly for it with his sub 90 MPH sinker. Rockies start Ty Blach had a solid start to the year but has a 7.32 ERA over his last 7. He finished June with a 7.08 ERA and currently sports an 8.31 ERA in July. He's pitched past the 5th inning in just 2 of his 9 starts this year.
