The World Series was off yesterday but they're set to play 3 straight days in the Bronx unless of course NY gets swept. Both bullpens are heavily taxed from the first couple. LA's closer has thrown 55 pitches and nearly blew a 3-run lead in Game 2. The Yankees offense has left 17 on base and gone 2 for 14 with RISP. They've failed to cash in on opportunities but we like that to change in NY. LAD SP Walker Buehler has thrown just 1 quality start in 10 games since coming off the IL in August. He got nailed for 6 runs in San Diego in his first post-season start but fired 4 scoreless @ NY Mets in his 2nd. He needed 90 pitches though, allowing 3 hits and 3 free passes so he wasn't sharp. His last 2 road playoff starts came in 2021, allowing 4ER on 4IP to ATL and 3 ER on 6.1 IP to SF. He was a much better pitcher then, prior to all his injuries. Yankees stadium as tough a post-season venue as there is. Sporting a 2-0 lead if LA does fall behind you can guarantee those top guys get another day off, which would make them available for the potential 4 games.
NYY SP Clarke Schmidt allowed 2 ER on 4.2 IP in each of his 2 post-season starts. This will be his first Home start, but he had a 4.5 ERA at Home during the regular season compared to a 1.39 on the Road. This Dodgers lineup is a hell of a lot tougher than the Royals and Guardians too. The Yankees really have no choice but to use their best relievers, but LA's seen them. The Yankees bullpen also blew Game 1 so there's that. The Dodgers have scored at least 4 runs in 6 straight playoff games and have scored 44 total during that span.
