2 Picks (6 Units)
4:10PM EST: White Sox ML +170 (3 Units).
Shane Smith allowed 2 ER on 5.2 IP in his MLB debut. He allowed just 2 hits but walked 4 batters. The bullpen let both of his runs in as he was pulled after walking two straight batters. He didn't allow a single run in 3 March spring training starts and had an opponent BA of .133 and WHIP of .56. He only threw 73 pitches in his debut, and it was last Tuesday so his arm should be feeling just fine. The Guardians’ offense has been mediocre, scoring 2 or less in 4 of their last 6 games. The White Sox bullpen isn't great, but they do have a few guys throwing well and they're available. Bullpen depth is usually the issue for "Bad Teams". CLE SP Ben Lively has a 6.75 ERA through 2 starts. He allowed 4ER @ SD on 4.1 IP and 3ER on 5 IP @ KC.
4:10PM EST: Marlins ML +230 (3 Units).
These two starters went head-to-head last Wednesday. Gillispie allowed 1 Run on 4 Hits and Holmes allowed 2 Runs on 6 Hits. Gillispie has a 3.6 ERA and 3.42 xERA through 2 starts. Clay Holmes has a 2.89 ERA but an xERA of 4.95. He's a heavy sinkerballer and that helps him get out of jams, but a .289 opponent BA and 1.82 WHIP won’t add up to a good ERA for very long. Would trust Holmes to be better prepared for facing the same team twice in one week being a Veteran but he simply hasn't been sharp. Neither offense has been very good either. These two rank 22nd and 27th in OPS in April. The Mets have the #1 ranked bullpen, but the Marlins are a respectable 13th. 15 of the 18 earned runs the Marlins Bullpen has allowed have come from just 3 different pitchers though.
