This will be his first road start of 2025 and it's a spot he's struggled in for the Yankees. His first year in NY was 2023 and he had a 7.63 ERA in 7 road starts. In a full season last year he had a 4.69 ERA in 18 road starts. He used to pitch in the AL Central so there's some familiarity here for the Tigers. In 55 career plate appearances vs Rodon Detroit has a .333 BA. DET SP Casey Mize had a 1.69 ERA in 6 Spring appearances and opened the season with a 1 hit gem at Seattle. He was having a strong 2024 season before an injury cost him most of the 2nd half. Both teams have been good offensively. Over the last week the Tigers lead in both BA (3rd) and OPS (5th). The Yankees bullpen was also taxed in extra innings yesterday. Their top 2 relievers will be unavailable after each one threw 2 innings last night. WSH SP Mackenzie Gore labored in his 2nd start at Toronto after turning in a 1 hit 13 strikeout gem vs Philly in his 2025 debut. He has been significantly better at Home for Washington the past two seasons. He also had a good spring, posting a 2.76 ERA in 4 starts. For as good as this Dodgers lineup is, they have a .188 BA and .635 OPS vs LHP. They've also cooled off, hitting .233 with a .754 OPS over the last week. LAD SP Dustin May did pitch well in Spring and his 2025 debut. It was a much anticipated return from a lengthy recovery. He only worked up to 68 pitches in spring and tossed 81 last week. Could be a bit off dealing with some arm fatigue and he does walk a few too many batters. He had 6 walks on 10 IP in spring and 3 walks on 5 IP in his first start.
