Free Pick: New York Jets to Make the Playoffs. The Jets went 7-10 in 2023 despite a revolving door at QB and one of the worst offensive lines in football. A healthy Aaron Rodgers alone is enough to get them into the Playoffs but Gang Green made a plethora of moves that make getting to the Playoffs a near certainty.
The defense responsible for those 7 wins returns every key player from 2023. They took their already very good defensive line and made it better by signing DT Javon Kinlaw from SF and trading for Edge Rusher Hassan Reddick from Philly. Their 2023 15th overall pick, DE Will McDonald IV, is entering year 2 and poised for a larger role. With Robert Saleh at the helm and Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich returning as well, this will once again be a top defense.
Offensively Aaron Rodgers health is paramount. They addressed it by signing future HOF LT Tyron Smith and Baltimore's starting LG from 2023, John Simpson. They also traded for Baltimore's starting RT Morgan Moses and used their 11th overall pick on Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Tackle from Penn State. They join G Alijah-Vera Tucker (AVT) and C Joe Tippman. AVT is one of the league's best when healthy and Tippman's poised to be the Jets Center for the next Decade. The Jets also signed Tyrod Taylor to give them a more than capable backup QB in the event Rodgers does end up hurt again.
Skillswise Garret Wilson and Breece Hall are one of the top WR/RB duos in the NFL. NY added WR Mike Williams in FA to give Rodgers a great #2. They also drafted WR Malachi Corley out of WKY and RB Braelon Allen out of Wisconsin. Two very physical and explosive playmakers with the ball in their hands.
Lastly there's special teams. Punter Thomas Morestead and Kicker Greg Zuerlein were another big reason for New York winning 7 games in spite of their offense. They led the way for one of the best ST units in football in 2023 and they will both be returning this year.
Overall this New York Jets Roster has more talent and depth heading into 2024 compared to 2023. At their best they're legitimate SuperBowl contenders. With the 4th easiest strength of schedule heading into 2024 this is a team that could compete for a playoff berth even without Aaron Rodgers.
