8:15PM EST: Jets -6 (2 Units), Under 38.5 (2 Units).
Injuries have not been kind to NE, especially up front. They're without their starting LG and LT after coming down with injuries last week. Their Center and RT are both listed as questionable and were limited participants in practice. This is on top of having 2 offensive linemen on the IR already. Defensively they're without a pair of Linebackers and their leading tackler from week 1.
The Jets have gotten off to a slower start than the "experts" predicted but this was to be expected. Rodgers coming off an Achilles tear, 3 new starters on the OL, prized FA signing WR Mike Williams started practicing a Month Ago, and their Defensive Line completely reshuffled. They've also played each of their first 2 games on the road @ SF and @ TEN. The NFL isn't a video game, and it takes time for it to come together. Both the Jets offense and defense had a strong 2nd Half against Tennessee, and we like that to carry over into their Home opener.
The Jets just lost DE Jermaine Johnson for the year, but his backup Will McDonald wasted no time, recording 3 sacks against Tennessee. The Jets do get back CB DJ Reed for this game to play opposite Sauce Gardner. NE QB Jacoby Brissett has thrown for just 270 yards through 2 games and that's against much weaker secondaries than New York's. With NE's offensive line as banged up as it is they won't be able to lean on that ground game as they have in weeks 1 and 2. Pass Protection won't hold up as well either. With this being New York's Home Opener with Jets fans going nuts, we like this Jets defense to get their swagger back tonight.
