7:30PM: Virginia Tech -8 (3 Units).
The Hokies are much better than their 3-3 record suggests. There were high expectations coming into the season after returning 19 starters from a 2023 squad that had a strong second half. Despite the slow start and 3 losses everything's in play. They're 1-1 in Conference Play and running the table practically guarantees a trip to the ACC championship game. A win there and you're in the playoffs. All this to point out this is a highly motivated team that's going to show up for a packed Lane Stadium on Thursday Night. This is also their Home Opener for ACC play. Their 2 Home games came against Marshall and Rutgers.
When the season began it was thought to be some big upset when VT lost on the road to Vandy in OT Week 1 but that's a very good football team. They also lost to Miami by 4 in Miami and probably should have won that game. They blew out Stanford 31-7 on the road last week. They average north of 30 points per game and finished last year scoring 28 or more in 6 of 7 games. Boston College has a solid defense, but they just lost one of their standout CB's for the year with a torn ACL.
Boston College has a first year Head Coach with a nice 4-2 record, but they got embarrassed on the road at Virginia last week and barely beat Western Kentucky at Home the week before that. They needed 14 unanswered in the 4th to win 21-20. They're 97th in Points Per Game and have scored more than 23 against an FBS opponent just once. It was against an awful FSU team in Week 1. Virginia Tech's defense has played very well outside of the Miami game and that's one of the best offenses in the Nation.
