Neither offense is any good. FIU and Sam Houston are the bottom 2 in Conference USA in terms of yards per game. FIU averages 19.7 points per game while Sam Houston averages just 11.2. The Bearkats actually rank dead last among all FBS programs in rushing yards per game. Their defenses have at least been respectable.
FIU gave up 27 points to Utep last week. They got jumped for 3 Touchdowns on some big plays in the 1st quarter but allowed just 6 points the rest of the way. They've held UCONN to 17, Maine to 12, and Louisiana Tech to 22. Sam Houston is easily the worst offense they'll face this season. Sam Houston's defense has played Conference USA's 2nd ranked and 1st ranked offenses in back to back weeks. They allowed 27 to NMST last week but pitched a shutout in the 2nd half. They held Liberty to just 21 points the week before that. They've also held Air Force to just 13 and BYU to 14 earlier this season.
