Things start ramping up during week 2 of pre-season. While the stars might not play, those taking meaningful snaps on Sundays will see some burn. This is where the Eagles roster has a significant edge.

The Browns will start rookie Dorian Thompson Robinson (DTR) in the first half before giving way to Kellen Mond in the 2nd. DTR has played well in the Hall of Game game as well as last weeks game against Washington. But every snap he took came in the 2nd half against fringe roster players and guys who won't make the team. That won't be the case today.

The Eagles had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season and were incredibly stout in the front 7. Then they went on to draft 4 defensive prospects in the top 105 picks. Teams don't average 3.9 sacks per game without a deep front 7 and that PHI front 7 got even deeper. They have legitimate starters in it's 2nd unit and own a clear advantage in the trenches over CLE's backup offensive line.

Eagles will also get steadier QB play. Former 2nd overall pick Marcus Mariota is likely to start the day before giving way to Ian Book, who's in his 2nd year with PHI. They also have a Rookie in Tanner McKee out of Stanford who should see time at the end of the game against inferior CLE talent. Philly is also rolling out a strong RB room. Both Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott will suit up today while Rashaad Penny and D'Andre Swift will play as well.

As far as starting units go, PHI's offensive line is the best in football. But with that they have strong depth. Backups Dennis Kelly has played in 130 NFL games, Josh Andrews has played in 48. Jack Driscoll enters year 3 after being drafted in the 4th round in 2023 and they drafted Tyleer Steen out of Bama in the 3rd round this year. That's just to name a few. The Eagles ran for 154 yards against Baltimore last week.

Bottom line, the Eagles have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL and they're playing that talent tonight. With 2's and 3's set to get more playing time you'll see why the Browns were so mediocre a season ago and how Philly ended up in the Super Bowl.
