Mattison went over this yardage total against the worst rushing defense in the NFL last week but prior to that he's gone under this number in 6 straight games. In fact, he's only ran for more than 44 yards just 3 times all season, and he's played in all 11 of Minnesota's games. This Bears defense isn't very good but, they're actually the #1 ranked rushing defense. They allow just 79.5 rushing yards per game and 3.4 yards per attempt. Chicago held them to just 46 total rushing yards when they met earlier this season. On top of that the Vikings backfield is becoming more of a 2 man show with Ty Chandler.
Over the last 2 weeks Chandler has 25 carries for 118 yards (4.72 YPC) to Mattison's 26 for 108 (4.12 YPC). It's been a rough year for Mattison who's averaging just 3.7 YPC this year and Chandler's eating into that starting role because of it. The Vikings also traded for Cam Akers earlier this year as they sought out RB help. He was injured a few weeks ago. That gave Chandler his opportunity and he's been the most productive Vikings running back this season.
